CHESS EVENTS
After living in Europe for 15 years, my
wife and I have retired, moved back to the US and settled in Enterprise,
Alabama.
Being
both seniors and active tournament chess players, we looked for events in
Alabama and neighboring states. Unfortunately I noticed that there is little to
no chess activity organized to benefit senior chess players. The same goes for
Fide rated events and I would like to see this change.
Some
States have an annual State Senior Championship and this is usually the only
event for seniors each year, others States like Alabama don’t have even that.
To
have a Fide Rating is not fundamental to play good chess, however, most players (young
or old) desire to be recognized and be rated by FIDE, the World Chess Federation. A FIDE rating is recognized all over the world , unlike other ratings.
In
order to change this situation, we will be organizing both types of events.
First one will be a Seniors tournament in Dothan Alabama, planned for the Fall
of this year, with the co-operation of Dothan Chess Club.
We
are also planning a Fide rated event, and details will be disclosed as soon as available.
This page will be used to broadcast our events and its results.

We
hope to have the interest / support of all players from Alabama and bordering
States
